Job Summary
Conduct daily planning meetings, lead on-field instruction, and administer athletic assessments for youth baseball and softball programs. Oversee mentoring time, enrichment activities, and mealtime logistics while managing volunteer coaches and Scholar Athletes. Build authentic relationships with students to support their social and emotional development and mediate behavioral challenges through restorative practices. Coordinate field trips, transportation, and rainy day activities alongside classroom staff. Maintain equipment supplies and attend mandatory professional development. Work full days Monday through Friday during summer months and after-school hours Tuesday through Thursday during the school year.
Required Qualifications
- Must successfully clear a background check
- Must have U.S. work authorization
- Must be available during the Academy hours: 1:30pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday-Thursday, early September through late May
- Must be available during the Academy hours: Mondays between 5-8pm in April, May, September, and October
- Must be available during the Academy hours: from 8:00am to 4:00pm on Monday-Friday between the second week of June and the first week of August
- Must be available for field trips, a variety of evening and weekend activities, as well as mandatory training and professional development programs
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to run, jump, and climb up/down stairs
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have U.S. work authorization
- Must have the ability to manage behavioral challenges posed by Scholar Athletes through mediation and restorative practices
- Must be well-versed in youth development and the importance of growing social and emotional skills
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must have basic knowledge of baseball/softball rules with some coaching experience
- Must have demonstrated experience working with at-risk youth
- Must have youth development experience
- Must demonstrate leadership and motivational skills
- Must commit to achieving the articulated objectives of the Academy for Scholar Athletes, staff, and the community at-large
- Must commit to working with youth and families in an under resourced community
- Must believe that all students can achieve at high levels
- Must commit to Core Values: Innovation, Integrity, and Teamwork
