Coordinating Teacher - English as a Second Language

Job Summary
Provide supplemental support to ESL teachers to enhance instruction quality, conducting at least one annual school visit per assigned site. Serve as a liaison between ESL and other Wake County Public School System departments to determine best practices for teaching English learners and implement equitable access across grade levels. Collaboratively design and deliver professional learning for ESL and content area teachers, while reporting progress on school support efforts to senior leadership. Establish open communication with system departments to inform curricular supports and participate in middle school district initiatives as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of curriculum and best practices
- Extensive knowledge of English language development pedagogy and literacy
- Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point; Google Apps
- Effective time management skills
- Ability to design and deliver professional learning
- Ability to evaluate professional learning sessions to ensure topics and information are being implemented
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form in English and Spanish using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, staff members of external funding agencies, and the community
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in education, English as a Second Language, or related field
- Three years of ESL teaching experience in a public school setting
- Experience designing and delivering professional learning
- Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina professional educators license with licensure in English as a Second Language
- Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of North Carolina requirements
