Job Summary
Supervise Spine and Neuro Service operations by coordinating cases, advancing patient care standards, and optimizing throughput for admissions, transfers, and discharge. Act as a clinical resource and lead for the patient care team, facilitating interdisciplinary plans of care and resolving physician or customer issues. Monitor staff schedules, authorize overtime, and complete payroll adjustments in Smart Square while mentoring colleagues on councils and the Clinical Ladder program. Collaborate with the Nurse Manager to evaluate team performance and implement clinical practice changes. Full-time day shift with 40 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- Specialized Diploma Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- 3 years as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting
- Effective Communication - Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques, ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors
- Patient-and Family-Centered Practice - Knowledge of how to convey respect and collaborate with each patient, family and/or designated care partner in care
- Cultural Awareness - Knowledge of people with diverse backgrounds and the ability to convey respect and connect effectively
- Care Coordination - Knowledge of the medical, social, economic, and other services provided by other departments or facilities, and the ability to integrate these multidisciplinary treatments for optimal patient care
- Patient Safety - Knowledge of the risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment, and the ability to take steps to reduce these risks
- Medication Administration and Prescription - Knowledge of various medications used to treat patients, ability to apply this knowledge to the administration of medications and to the prescription of drugs for continuing treatment outside of the hospital
- Discharge Planning - Knowledge of the patient's post-discharge needs and the ability to consider these needs in planning for discharge and arranging for follow-up care
- Assessment and Diagnosis - Knowledge of various tools and techniques for patient assessment and nursing diagnosis or clinical judgement, ability to explore and analyze reasons behind symptoms and generate resolutions according to available drugs, facilities and techniques
- Health Information Documentation - Knowledge of the relevance of health information and appropriate documentation methods, ability to record medical histories, symptoms, vital signs, medications, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, tests, and medical results in written or electronic form
- RN - Licensed Registered Nurse
- PA - State of Pennsylvania
- Lift and carry 40-50 lbs
- Frequent to continuous standing/walking
- Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift
- Activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree BSN or completion of BSN or appropriate advanced degree within 3 years of hire
