Job Summary
Cook for Whistler Cooks @ Capilano University in Squamish, focusing on preparing and presenting foods using standardized recipes and portion sizes. Responsibilities include following health and sanitation rules, maintaining hygiene and cleanliness, ensuring a safe kitchen environment, keeping all equipment clean and functional, reading and following daily prep lists/run sheets, delivering high-quality food quickly with pride and attention to detail, controlling waste and spoilage, assisting teammates and the kitchen steward, and completing opening/closing tasks with emphasis on speed and efficiency. Requires Food Safe Level 1, at least 1 year of professional kitchen experience or culinary education, knife handling skills, ability to stand for long shifts, ability to lift up to 70 pounds, and eligibility to work (Canadian citizen or valid work permit).
Required Qualifications
- Have completed Food Safe Level 1.
- Have at least 1 year of experience working in a professional kitchen or related education in culinary school.
- Professional knife handling skills, basic food and safety knowledge.
- Be able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for an entire shift.
- Be able to frequently lift and carry items greater than 35 pounds, up to 70 pounds regularly.
- Hold a valid work permit or be a Canadian Citizen.
