Job Summary
Prepare, season, and cook food for hospital patients, staff, and visitors while following recipes and maintaining therapeutic diet standards. Weigh and measure ingredients, determine food requirements to maximize utilization, and keep stock levels up by informing the manager of deficiencies. Maintain a clean, organized kitchen, observe infection control practices, and perform all aspects of patient care to optimize safety. Put food away in appropriate areas and accept assignments based on priorities and workload. Serve as a role model and mentor to co-workers and culinary staff.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Ability and willingness to demonstrate and maintain competency as required for job title and the unit/area(s) of assignment
- Excellent communication skills to include oral and written comprehension/expression
- Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with principles for service excellence
- Have or willing to obtain an Idaho Food Handler License
Desired Qualifications
- One year of food service experience and/or institutional cooking experience preferred
- Previous experience in hospital food preparation preferred
