Job Summary
Prepare creditable meals for children, volunteers, and staff using standardized USDA CNP approved recipes while maintaining kitchen and classroom sanitation. Manage monthly food stock, purchase supplies according to seasonal availability, and document food allergies on protocol forms. Maintain accurate nutrition records, file receipts for reimbursement, and perform minor maintenance and janitorial duties as needed. Drive an agency vehicle to complete shopping for the center and kitchen. Ensure new classroom staff receive meal service training and participate in staff meetings and workshops.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Current Food Handler's card
- Experience in purchasing and preparing culturally diverse foods for groups
- Ability to understand and use basic math
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, and ease in adaptation to new technology
- Knowledge of early childhood nutrition
- Skills in working with children
- Ability to keep accurate records
- Previous custodial experience
- Ability to drive a private or agency vehicle
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Personal automobile insurance or a plan that will allow fulfillment of position requirements
- Current enrollment in the Child Care Division's Central Background Registry
- Current physical examination
- Drug screen documentation
- TB screen documentation
- Fluent in English both verbally and written
