Job Summary
Prepare meals for patients, employees, and outside customers using standardized recipes and therapeutic diets including diabetic, renal, and soft textures. Cook meats, poultry, seafood, and vegetables via methods such as braising, sautéing, and steaming while monitoring temperatures and ensuring food safety standards. Coordinate meal production with other cooks, plan weekly menus, and manage inventory by labeling and storing deliveries using FIFO practices. Serve food during tray line service, operate cash registers, and clean kitchen equipment and work areas. Maintain daily temperature logs for refrigerators and food items.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma
- Six months of experience in the foodservice industry, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and work experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position
- Must obtain ServSafe® Certification within six to twelve months after hire
- Upon recommendation for hire, a criminal background and a National FBI fingerprint check are required to determine suitability for employment, including a 39-month driving record
- Must meet the Tohono O'odham Nation tribal employer's insurance requirements to receive a driver's permit to operate program vehicles
- Must obtain and maintain a valid driver's license (no DUIs or major traffic citations within the last three years)
- Must demonstrate fluency in both the Tohono O'odham language and English as a condition of employment
