Job Summary
Prepare and cook nutritious, flavorful meals following prescribed menus and dietary requirements while ensuring portion control and high-quality presentation. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in kitchen and food storage areas, and adhere strictly to food safety regulations. Collaborate with dietary staff to plan menus and accommodate special dietary needs, and manage inventory of food supplies and kitchen equipment. Order supplies as needed and operate commercial slicers, ovens, grills, and large blenders safely. Work in a supportive team environment at The Pines at Utica, an affiliate of National Health Care Associates, providing meaningful dining experiences for aging residents and their families.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience as a Cook
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Safe knife handling skills
- Experience operating commercial slicers, ovens, grills, large blenders, etc.
- Ability to follow instructions for the safe use, cleaning, and care of dietary equipment, preparation, and service areas
- Compassionate and empathetic nature
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as a Cook, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
