Job Summary
Prepare meals at one of six restaurants or event spaces while demonstrating advanced knife skills and proficiency in multiple cuisines. Manage kitchen operations with a full tool kit, assist in training interns, and direct daily culinary tasks. Complete a mystery basket cooking test to include three courses in four hours and maintain ServSafe certification. Work in extreme temperatures and stand for extended periods, with evening and weekend hours required based on union seniority. Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- minimum of 1 year of cooking experience OR currently hold a culinary position in a similar restaurant, hotel or private club setting
- High school diploma or equivalent
- ServSafe certification
- ability to complete a mystery basket cooking test to include 3 courses in 4 hours
- Knowledgeable of kitchen equipment
- good knife skills
- possess a full tool kit
- Knowledgeable of weights and measures
- basic math applications
- ability to assist, train and direct culinary interns and general cooks in daily tasks
- Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English
- Skilled with a minimum of two cuisines
- ability of taste buds to distinguish between and among flavors, spices, temperature, and mouth feel of food, and beverage
- ability of olfactory nerves to distinguish between and among odors and scents
- ability to work in extreme temperatures
- ability to meet scheduled requirements, which will most likely require evening and weekend hours
