Job Summary
Under general supervision, prepare large quantities of varied foods including meats, fish, poultry, gravies, cereals, soups, and vegetables using proper cooking and seasoning methods. Cook food as directed in the operational menu plan, ensure recipes meet facility population requirements, and maintain accurate production records. Direct work, provide training, and perform inspections of detainee food service staff while conducting orientation programs. Manage preparation scheduling, quality assurance, and food supply ordering, including checking deliveries and taking inventory. Ensure the sanitation and safety program is actively practiced and assist management in maintaining client relations. Requires high school diploma, one year of commercial or restaurant food preparation experience, and ability to communicate production requirements. Full-time position with $21.00/hour pay, $2,000 sign-on bonus, and comprehensive benefits including health insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent certification
- Must be able to communicate to all personnel the minimum production/service requirements of the job
Desired Qualifications
- Relevant technical training courses in food service preparation and cooking
- Prior cooking and correctional food service training
- Minimum one (1) year prior experience in commercial or restaurant food preparation
- Experience obtained military, or institutional setting
