Job Summary
The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving food for residents, including complex meal preparation. Key duties include reviewing menus, ensuring meals are served on time, monitoring food supplies, and providing direction to Dietary Aides. Qualifications include a culinary management certificate or equivalent experience and proven experience in various cooking settings. Additional certifications and the ability to lead in a busy environment are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated and proven experience in institutional cooking
- Ability to work safely
- Ability to read and write English
Desired Qualifications
- Chef training or culinary management certificate
- Certificate of qualification as a Cook
- Post-secondary diploma in food and nutrition management
- Post-secondary degree in food and nutrition
- “Red Seal” certification preferred
- Experience in institutional large quantity cooking preferred
Additional Requirements
- A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date
- Completion of a 2 Step TB Skin test within the last 12 months of start date
