Job Summary
Cook role under the direction of the Food Services Director to manage Food Services Department operations including food ordering, preparation, delivery, cleanliness, and compliance with health regulations. Responsibilities include scheduling staff, maintaining equipment and clean work areas, ensuring nutritious and appealing food presentation, accommodating residents with special dietary needs, in-service training, and upholding residents’ rights. Requires culinary arts training or equivalent experience, ability to relate positively to residents and families, effective communication, reliable attendance, state health compliance, and Food Handlers Permit as required. Required Qualifications
- Culinary arts training or equivalent experience preferred
- Must be able to relate positively to residents and families and work cooperatively with other employees and vendors
- Must be able to communicate effectively with Residents, families, staff, community officials, referral sources and the general public
- Must be capable of maintaining regular, reliable attendance
- Must meet all state health requirements
- Obtain Food Handlers Permit (as required by state regulations)
- Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities (Essential Job Functions) with or without reasonable accommodation
- Help Food Services Director schedule staff; orient new staff; ensure equipment is maintained and work areas clean, safe and orderly
- Ensure food is prepared in a nutritional and appetizing fashion; snacks for residents with special dietary needs; ensure proper sanitation and safe handling
- Attend all required in-service training
- Ensure compliance with regulations regarding residents’ rights
