Job Summary
Cook reports to the Director of Dining Services and is responsible for providing and preparing appealing, nutritious, heart-healthy meals for residents, prospective residents, families and guests. Must have at least two years of relevant food-prep, purchasing, safety/sanitation, and menu planning experience in a restaurant, healthcare facility, or institution. Strong English communication, ability to read instructions/recipes/menus/labels, and a positive, team-oriented attitude—particularly when working with elderly residents. Benefits include medical/dental/vision, 401(k), paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and more. Salary range $21.00–$23.50 per hour ($43,680–$48,880 annualized).
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least two years’ experience with food preparation, food purchasing, kitchen safety sanitation, and menu preparation in a restaurant, health care facility, or institution
- Speak, read, and understand the English language
- Read and follow instructions, recipe books, menus, and food labels correctly
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and the ability to work well with all people, particularly the elderly
- May be required to hold valid First Aid Certification
