Job Summary
Cook-PT prepares appetizing, nourishing, well-balanced meals for residents in an institutional setting. Responsibilities include following standardized recipes, preparing foods per menu cycles developed by Registered Dietitians, cooking meals at proper temperatures and times, minimizing waste, providing food alternatives for resident choices, assisting with storage, tray assembly, and cleaning, operating institutional food preparation equipment, and maintaining communication with supervision to maximize resident satisfaction. The role supports daily operations under the Dietary Manager and participates in survey-preparation activities and interactions with surveyors. The position emphasizes safe food handling, efficient use of supplies, and adherence to professional standards of practice within senior-care dining services.
Required Qualifications
- Basic understanding of nutrition and therapeutic diets
- Excellent interpersonal, organization and communication skills
- Understanding of person-centered care
- Working knowledge and ability to apply professional standards of practice
