Job Summary
Prepare, assemble baked goods, cook, season, and portion food for patients, residents, staff, and visitors while adhering to menu and dietary guidelines. Maintain labeling and storage of food, equipment, and machinery; perform washing and cleaning duties to ensure sanitation in cooking and serving areas. Operate equipment including mixers, slicers, ovens, and fryers while documenting HACCP steps, temperatures, and outcomes. Adheres to food quality standards for appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation. Works with internal customers requiring above-average communication and teamwork skills. Demonstrates ability to cook, function, and thrive in a dynamic culinary environment. Possesses ability to work independently when necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Possesses ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions
- Ability to perform basic math
- Possesses ability to work independently when necessary
- Possesses an understanding of food safety and sanitation processes
- Possesses an understanding of basic math to appropriately measure alongside displaying proficiency in reading and understanding recipes
- Demonstrates ability to be on feet for the majority of the day and walk far distances throughout the hospital
- Valid Driver's License may be required
- Depending on location, may be required to drive
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of six months of applicable experience preferred
- Serv Safe may be required to obtain within a designated time frame
- Additional endorsements to Serv Safe may be required depending upon location
- Fulfill annual continuing education requirements of the department and facility including departmental meetings, safety education and mandatory in-services
- Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required depending upon location requirements
