Job Summary
Cook – PRN prepares meals per menus created by dieticians, operates kitchen equipment (e.g., mixer, slicer, oven, steamer), and cleans work areas. The role involves preparing meals in large quantities for the elderly, using institutional-sized cookware, maintaining a steady pace to ensure meals are ready on time, and following infection control policies. Responsibilities include following standardized recipes, assisting in the food service line to meet dietary orders (including therapeutic diets), monitoring portion controls, processing diet changes, arranging substitutes for those who refuse foods, recording temperatures for freezers and walk-ins, checking stock, setting up tray lines, and maintaining equipment and sanitation. The position emphasizes teamwork, communication, and contributing to committees/projects as needed, with flexibility to fill gaps in kitchen support. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS include a high school diploma or equivalent preferred, and basic literacy and numeracy skills; no supervisory responsibilities. The role supports a non-profit healthcare setting in Georgia and requires adherence to safety, dietary, and operational procedures.
