Job Summary
Adjust thermostat controls for ovens and grills, then bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, and vegetables. Add seasoning during mixing, observe and test foods by tasting and smelling, and carve meats while portioning food and garnishing servings. Wash, peel, and cut produce to prepare items for cooking, and bake bread, rolls, cakes, and pastry as assigned. Follow PPE and safety guidance to safeguard team members and guests. This role requires three months of culinary experience, reading safety manuals, and passing the West Virginia Food Handlers Class. Employees must qualify for licensing with the West Virginia Racing Commission.
Required Qualifications
- 3 months experience in the culinary field
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Must qualify for licensing with the West Virginia Racing Commission
- Attend our West Virginia Food Handlers Class and pass certification
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time
