Job Summary
Pastry Cook position responsible for safely preparing food items following standard recipes for service across outlets within Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel. Responsibilities include operating kitchen equipment (slicer, steamer, deep fryer, ovens, broiler, grill, mixer, kettle, griddles), cooking and assembling dishes with attention to menu specifications, providing excellent guest service, reading and following recipes, managing inventory requisitions, and adhering to health codes and hand-washing guidelines. Ability to read, write, and communicate in Basic English is required. Preferred background includes baking & pastry knowledge, higher-volume kitchen experience, and SERV Safe certification; must be able to obtain a Kentucky gaming/racing license. Offers exposure to a fast-paced, high-volume food environment with flexible hours and deadlines. Required Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of experience in a professional kitchen area is preferred
- Working knowledge of baking & pastry terms preferred
- Basic knowledge of culinary techniques and ability to execute recipes in a timely manner preferred
- Food safe certification from recognized authority (SERV Safe certification, etc.) preferred
