Job Summary
Create healthy, balanced menus and cook varied meals for twelve to twenty residents, accommodating personal preferences and dietary requirements like diabetes. Plan, prepare, and cook from agreed menus while ensuring safe and sufficient supply of catering products through timely ordering and accurate documentation. Maintain effective stock rotation and control to manage costs within the agreed budget, keeping kitchen and store areas clean and hygienic in line with Environmental Health and COSHH standards. Supervise completion of all relevant food safety records and report any equipment defects to management.
Required Qualifications
- Relevant Certificate in Food Hygiene, or be prepared to obtain one within the first three months in the role
- Demonstrable experience of cooking varied, healthy and safe meals to large groups (twelve or more, and sometimes up to 20), on a regular basis
- Ability to communicate and interact well with people
- Ability to work productively as part of a team
- Ability to read and write to a good standard
- Methodical and highly organised
- Ability to demonstrate an empathy and understanding of the nutritional needs of older people
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Two satisfactory employment references
- Enhanced DBS check
