Job Summary
Cook responsible for managing and operating the kitchen in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor; duties include maintaining a safe, orderly, clean kitchen, preparing tasteful meals for large quantities, following prepared menus and portion control, preparing special diets accurately (including pureed foods), recording food temperatures, assisting with serving meals, supervising in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor, maintaining sanitation and hygiene, training dietary staff, and presenting appealing meals to residents. Requires the ability to cooperate across departments and follow cleaning schedules; employment emphasizes equal opportunity and compliance with health regulations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience as a cook in a hospital or long-term care facility for not less than one year
- Must obtain and maintain ServSafe Certificate
- PCC preferred
- Must remain in good standing with the Department of Public Health
