Job Summary
Designs and prepares meals following USDA guidelines, assists in menu planning for infants to preschoolers with culturally appropriate options, monitors food quality, ensures allergy-sensitive preparation per Registered Dietician plan, manages food orders and inventory (FIFO), maintains sanitation and safety per federal/state/local standards, participates in staff interviews/orientation, supports Head Start mission, and collaborates with Food Service Supervisor, parents, and management to deliver nutritious meals while controlling costs and reducing waste.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED with at least one year experience in quantity cooking, particularly for children in the ethnic group being served
- A combination of culinary schoolwork OR experience cooking in large restaurant or industrial setting equivalent to 24 months education and work experience
