Cook (On-Call)

Job Summary
The On-Call Cook is responsible for planning, cooking, and providing nutritionally balanced meals three times daily for program residents, ensuring kitchen cleanliness and compliance with food safety regulations. This role requires efficient teamwork, menu planning with attention to nutritional value, and the ability to accommodate various dietary needs. The Cook will provide education on kitchen and food safety, maintain a clean workspace, and support residents emotionally as needed. Candidates must possess prior food service preparation experience and demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills.
Required Qualifications
- Prior food service preparation experience required
- Ability to operate all kitchen equipment
- Understanding of, certification in and ability to comply with all food safety, food handling and food storage procedures and regulations
- Ability to lift up to a minimum of 50 pounds
- Must work towards becoming SAFE SERVE certified
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience providing food service in a clinical setting preferred
- Prior experience with menu planning preferred
- Culinary school degree preferred
- Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License preferred
Additional Requirements
- PHMC requires that all employees have received the first Covid-19 vaccination dose by the first day of employment.
