Job Summary
Cook and serve meals in accordance with nutritional guidelines, local health department regulations, and resident dietary preferences. Maintain clean and sanitized dining areas while assisting with receiving, rotation, and storage of food products. Prepare food for special events and coordinate service using adaptive equipment to foster residents' independence. Wash dishes, follow cleaning schedules, and report any kitchen equipment malfunctions to the Food Service Director. Ensure compliance with Oaks Senior Living policies, infection control standards, and OSHA safety procedures. Requires CPR & First Aid certification, physical exam, negative drug screen, and ability to stand or lift up to 50 pounds for eight-hour shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in cooking for large groups
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Desire to work with older adults
- Friendly, caring disposition
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must have a satisfactory criminal history check
- Must have physical exam by a licensed physician
- Must have a negative drug screen
- Must be able to react in an emergency situation
- Must be able to stand/walk up to eight hours a day
- Must be able to sit up to two hours a day
- Must be able to frequently support up to 30 pounds
- Must be able to frequently lift/carry up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to frequently kneel, bend, and reach
