Job Summary
Produce attractive, appetizing meals for patients, cafeteria, and occasional catering by following approved techniques; lead and coach production staff, assist with scheduling, events, training, and assignment management; monitor food handling and sanitation compliance; plan and portion recipes according to dietetic standards; participate in cost analysis, menu development, and production scheduling; ensure equipment maintenance and safety, and collaborate with Nutrition Services managers to uphold quality standards and patient diets.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years certified Culinary School or American Culinary Federation Certified Cook, or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of two years progressive hospital experience as a cook or minimum of five years restaurant or institutional cooking experience
- ServeSafe Certification (SSC) preferred at hire
- Integrative Agitation Management (IAMTAC) required within 30 days of hire
- Ability to use and teach basic cooking techniques and operate kitchen equipment safely
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to plan and organize production activities and schedules
- Knowledge of diet types and patient diet requirements
- Safety and sanitation compliance knowledge
- Basic computer skills for recipes, menus, inventory, and signage
