Job Summary

Produce attractive, appetizing meals for patients, cafeteria, and occasional catering by following approved techniques; lead and coach production staff, assist with scheduling, events, training, and assignment management; monitor food handling and sanitation compliance; plan and portion recipes according to dietetic standards; participate in cost analysis, menu development, and production scheduling; ensure equipment maintenance and safety, and collaborate with Nutrition Services managers to uphold quality standards and patient diets.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years certified Culinary School or American Culinary Federation Certified Cook, or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of two years progressive hospital experience as a cook or minimum of five years restaurant or institutional cooking experience
  • ServeSafe Certification (SSC) preferred at hire
  • Integrative Agitation Management (IAMTAC) required within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to use and teach basic cooking techniques and operate kitchen equipment safely
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to plan and organize production activities and schedules
  • Knowledge of diet types and patient diet requirements
  • Safety and sanitation compliance knowledge
  • Basic computer skills for recipes, menus, inventory, and signage
