Job Summary
Cook on a new Ottawa restaurant concept from Gray Collection, focused on authentic Italian cuisine with fresh pasta and wood-fired pizzas. Responsibilities include executing a la minute cooking on the line, prepping and plating dishes to established standards, maintaining stocked and organized stations, ensuring high-quality food production with proper timing, preparing ingredients per recipes, proper storage of food and supplies, assisting chefs and colleagues, upholding food handling and cleanliness, performing additional kitchen duties, coordinating prep with front of house for a seamless guest experience, and using kitchen tools safely. Requires formal culinary training or relevant on-the-job experience, Food Handler’s Certificate, flexible availability (evenings/weekends/holidays), ability to stand for long periods and lift 50 lbs, strong communication and teamwork, and a valid work permit. Required Qualifications
- Formal culinary training OR on the job experience at restaurants with comparable culinary operations
- Food Handler’s Certificate
- Flexible schedule with availability on evenings, weekends and holidays
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time (8 hours) and lift at least 50 lbs
- Understanding of kitchen operations, health and safety rules, food safety, knife skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and to work independently
- Ability to work under pressure and possess strong time management skills
- Valid work permit required
