Job Summary
Prepare fresh, high-quality meals for the hot bar, salad bar, grab-and-go cases, catering, and other prepared foods using standardized recipes and production schedules. Provide outstanding customer service by answering questions about ingredients, allergens, specialty diets, and menu items while maintaining attractive, well-stocked food displays. Follow food safety, sanitation, labeling, and temperature monitoring procedures to ensure consistency and quality. Work closely with Kitchen, Deli, Bakery, Grocery, and Front End teams to support daily operations and minimize food waste. Complete production schedules efficiently while assisting with opening, closing, cleaning, and other department responsibilities. Cook IIs additionally coordinate daily kitchen production, mentor newer cooks, and assist the Kitchen Manager with day-to-day operations. Full-time or part-time schedules available; Idaho Food Safety Certification required.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to obtain an Idaho Food Safety Certification (if not already certified)
- Must be able to stand for extended periods
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Basic math and computer skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to prioritize production and work independently with minimal supervision
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in a restaurant, deli, commercial kitchen, or food service environment preferred
- Interest in natural, organic, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and specialty foods
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Two or more years of progressively responsible cooking experience preferred
- Advanced cooking, recipe execution, and food production skills
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and problem-solving abilities
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with a passion for great food and customer service
- Basic cooking, knife, and food preparation skills
