Job Summary
Prepare meals for residents according to the daily menu within the scheduled time frame; supervise servers in the absence of the Food & Beverage Director; ensure resident diets are followed; maintain kitchen cleanliness and safety; monitor inventory; operate and maintain kitchen equipment (ovens, slicers, mixers, steam tables, steamers, toasters, coffee pots, refrigerators, freezers); guide and instruct others in food preparation and serving; report loss, breakage, or waste of supplies; follow safety policies; communicate changes in residents’ health to the Food & Beverage Director; able to work with little supervision; able to cook large quantities; maintain professional demeanor under stress; relate well with staff and residents; maintain cleaning lists and high standards for kitchen cleanliness; perform other duties as assigned; must be Serv Safe certified.
Required Qualifications
- Serv Safe Certification required
- Working knowledge of health and safety in food preparation
- Knowledge of cooking times and temperatures
- Knowledge of various cuts of meat and seasonings
- Demonstrates ability to read, write, and speak English
- Experience dealing with seniors and their dietary needs
