Job Summary
Prepare food according to standardized recipes and dietary/therapeutic diet specifications for veteran residents, including those in a life-enhanced dementia unit. Maintain food safety, portion control, and presentation standards while operating kitchen equipment safely and keeping the cooking area clean. Communicate ingredient, equipment, or scheduling issues to the Kitchen Supervisor and assist with inventory, food storage, and rotation. Prior to start, complete a criminal background check, BEAS State Registry check, OIG Exclusion List screening, and annual attestation of NHVH policies.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and push carts
- Flexibility to work indoors and/or outdoors depending on event needs
- Criminal background check (National Criminal Records Check or NH Release of Criminal Record Authorization)
- BEAS State Registry check
- OIG Exclusion List screening (at hire, with monthly re-screening thereafter)
- Annual Conviction Disclosure Attestation
- Fitness-for-duty attestation, and physical/drug testing where applicable
- Review and attestation of NHVH policies and procedures (at hire and annually)
Desired Qualifications
- Previous food service/cooking experience preferred
- ServSafe certification preferred
