Job Summary
Cook with responsibility for overseeing meal production and kitchen cleanliness; maintain accurate records and paperwork; plan menus for the adult line; ensure customer and staff relations; pass state background checks and obtain Serve Safe certification within one year; possess energy, organization, and problem-solving skills; ability to adapt to changing priorities and interact professionally with Nutri-Serve staff; indoor kitchen duties including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 30 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 6 months to 1 year general food service experience (preferably in a school district)
- Serve Safe Certification or ability to obtain within one year of assuming the COOK role
- Background check and fingerprinting for NJ schools
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn the New Jersey Child Nutrition Program
- Ability to batch cook
- Ability to plan menus for the adult line
- Strong organizational and detail skills
- Good problem solving skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Ability to interact successfully with customers and Nutri-Serve employees
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds
- Indoor kitchen environment
