Job Summary
Attend daily production meetings, tasting sessions, and menu classes to understand upcoming meal requirements. Prepare hot and cold food items for residents, guests, and personnel according to daily menus, production sheets, and recipes, including modifications for special diets. Transport prepared food to dining areas following safe handling practices and instruct servers on proper portioning and plating. Assist with labeling, storing bulk orders, and conducting regular inventories while maintaining clean work areas and equipment throughout shifts. Participate in in-service training and professional development activities to stay current on nutrition, dietary needs, and culinary procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of (1) year in similar position
- Must be able to clearly and proficiently communicate with people of all ages and abilities
- Must be able to read and write English
- Must maintain a clean and well-groomed appearance
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings, rotating shifts, and occasional overtime
- Demonstrates freedom from pulmonary tuberculosis by a health screening performed by a physician prior to employment
- Certified in safe food handling
- Must be cleared in a criminal background check administered in the state of employment
- Requires ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift and/or carry objects in excess of 25 pounds
- Requires significant amount of bending at the waist
- Requires reaching above, below, and at shoulder length
- Ability to remain calm and positive in stressful situations
