Job Summary
Cook position responsible for preparing nutritionally sound meals in institutional quantities following menus and recipes, ensuring proper temperatures and timing, supervising kitchen staff, coordinating with the Dietary Services Supervisor, managing inventory and substitutions to accommodate resident dietary preferences, and assisting with inspections and compliance with county/state/federal regulations; requires knowledge of nutrition/diet management, strong communication and math skills, and preference for High School graduate and ServSafe certification.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred
- ServSafe Certification, preferred
- At least one year experience cooking in a commercial kitchen or health care dietary department preferred
- Functional literacy and knowledge of basic concepts of nutrition and diet management
- Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical information
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English
- Mathematical skills for weights and measures (weight, volume)
