Cook II Vail Commons - Limited Hour Temp

Cook II at Davidson College’s Vail Commons is responsible for preparing high-quality hot and cold food according to standardized recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and catered events in a fast-paced campus dining environment. The role involves portioning, cooking, presenting, tasting, and ensuring food is served at correct temperatures, while maintaining sanitation and safety standards. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining kitchen equipment, proper storage and labeling of foods, reporting maintenance or faulty equipment, attending safety meetings, and supporting collaboration with coworkers and campus administrators. Occasional assistance with food production in other campus dining locations and general kitchen clean-up are also part of the role. Night and weekend work are required, with 15-20 hours per week. Preferred qualifications include vocational culinary training. The job requires physical exertion such as lifting up to fifty pounds, standing, bending, and repetitive movements, along with a strong commitment to safe food-handling practices and adherence to NC Department of Environmental Health Codes and Davidson College standards.
