Job Summary
Prepares various foods across breakfast, lunch, and dinner at assigned kitchen station, including set-up and breakdown of the station per standards and safety/sanitation policies. Assists in banquet preparation; follows recipes and portion sizes; cooks a variety of items (roasting, broiling, baking, frying, steaming, stewing); utilizes kitchen equipment safely; maintains cleanliness, reports hazards, supports teamwork, and helps control waste and food cost. Compliance with sanitation procedures and ongoing training in all areas of food preparation are required; may be asked to work nights, weekends, and overtime.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations
- Ability to weigh and measure ingredients
- Ability to maintain food quality regardless of business and staffing level
- Ability to adapt to change and new procedures
- Ability to absorb a large amount of information quickly
- Good, safe knife and equipment skills
- Ability to work without supervision and show initiative
- May be required to work nights, weekends and/or overtime
- Previous experience in a fast-paced kitchen preferred
