Job Summary
The Cook II will supervise and assist in the preparation of all food items for Restaurant/Dining Outlets, Cafe, Room Service and Employee Cafeteria while maintaining high standards to produce appealing, appetizing products. Responsibilities include supervising the kitchen line, banquet food preparation, training staff, ensuring adherence to Avion Hospitality standards and recipes, and supporting safe, efficient kitchen operations. Requires supervisory experience or culinary education with progressive experience, strong communication, problem-solving, and the ability to perform well under pressure; must hold or obtain State Food Handlers certification and comply with related requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Food Handlers Certification (must comply with State requirements)
- Previous supervisory responsibility preferred
- At least 3 years of related progressive experience or a culinary graduate with at least 1 year of progressive experience in a hotel or related field
- Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly
- Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
- Must work well in stressful high-pressure situations
- Must be able to show initiative in job performance including anticipating what needs to be done before it becomes a necessity
- Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
- Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace including anticipating preventing identifying and solving problems as necessary
- Must have the ability to assimilate complex information data etc. from disparate sources and consider adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need
- Must be effective at listening to understanding and clarifying the issues raised by co-workers and guests
- Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data and basic arithmetic functions
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Avion Hospitality standards as required by scheduling
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming including proper uniform and nametag
- Comply with certification requirements as applicable to position to include Food Handlers Safety etc.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all storage areas
- Attend meetings as required by management
- Perform any other duties as requested by management
