Job Summary

Cook I prepares and cooks meals in accordance with established menus, recipes, and portion guidelines. This role ensures meals are prepared safely, meet quality standards, and maintains a clean and sanitary kitchen environment. Essential duties include reviewing menus and obtaining ingredients from storage, following recipes and production sheets, preparing and cooking a variety of foods, ensuring proper temperatures, assisting with tray-line service, maintaining cleanliness of equipment and work areas, and supporting with cleaning and sanitation tasks. The Cook I also contributes to menu or recipe adjustments with the Chef or Sous Chef to improve efficiency, and must maintain regular attendance and comply with all policies and standards. Knowledge of food preparation techniques, safety standards, strong attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, good communication and teamwork skills, and the ability to lift heavy items and stand for extended periods are required. Licenses and certifications include Food Handler’s certification and state-specific sanitation/ServeSafe requirements for Arizona.

Required Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience in food preparation or a similar role
  • Food Handler’s certification as applicable by local or state regulations
  • Arizona Health Department Sanitation Certificate, ServeSafe Certificate, or Arizona Food Handler Certificate
