Job Summary
Prepare and assist with food preparation for breakfast, lunch, and dinner while following specific dietary restrictions and providing alternatives for residents. Maintain a professional appearance, confidentiality, and courteous, empathic attitude while working with individuals of diverse personality types and maturity levels. Demonstrate creative initiative and mature judgment in decision-making, consistently uphold sanitation and hygienic methods, and cook a variety of foods in large quantities. Possess a high school education, a sanitation certificate, and one year of dietary experience in a hospital or skilled nursing facility is preferred. Transportation accessibility is required to enable flexibility of work schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Some experience in institutional cooking
- Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation and hygienic methods
- Mental & physical capacity to perform the essential job functions with or without accommodations
- Must possess, as a minimum, a high school education or equivalent
- Must have a sanitation certificate
- Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities
- Must be knowledgeable of dietary procedures
- Transportation accessible to enable flexibility of work schedule
Desired Qualifications
- One (1) year dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility preferred (but not necessary)
- Sincere desire to work with elders and others who have a limited capacity for self-care
- The ability to demonstrate creative initiative and mature judgment in making competent decisions
