Job Summary
Prepare, cook, and present meals according to community recipes while adhering to dietary restrictions and requests. Collaborate with the dining team to plan daily menus, special events, and holiday meals. Maintain a clean kitchen environment, inspect food deliveries, and manage inventory. Build positive relationships with residents through excellent service and professionalism. This role requires flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, and involves physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs. in a hot kitchen environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior cooking experience in a restaurant, senior living, healthcare, or hospitality setting
- Strong understanding of food safety practices
- Knowledge of dietary restrictions and specialized diets
- Ability to follow recipes and instruction
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
- Great communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced environment
- Dependable with strong time management and multitasking skills
- Compassionate, patient, and respectful attitude towards residents and coworkers
- Effective verbal and written English communication skills
- Sound judgement and a strong ethical foundation in decision-making
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks in a hot kitchen environment
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs., including hot and heavy dishware
- Ability to navigate kitchen areas safely, which can include frequent walking, bending, stretching, squatting, and twisting
