Job Summary
Full-time Cook responsible for preparing a variety of meals for residents, families, and visitors in Artful Dining; manages kitchen operations and supports a dignified, caring atmosphere. Duties include following established menus and recipes, ensuring proper portioning and quality, supervising culinary assistants, maintaining sanitation and safety schedules, assisting with menu changes within dietician guidelines, handling food to prevent waste and contamination, and communicating effectively with residents and staff while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Requires teamwork, a proactive approach to tasks, and willingness to participate in trainings plus flexible shifts (5:00 AM–1:30 PM or 10:30 AM–7:00 PM with alternating weekends).
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
- Physical ability to regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear; ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations
- Willingness to participate in trainings and mandatory meetings
- Experience in food service and kitchen operations; ability to coordinate culinary staff and ensure compliance with sanitation and safety policies
- Ability to work various shifts including early morning and weekends
