Job Summary
Prepare and cook a variety of food for residents, families, and visitors according to established menus and standardized recipes. Oversee the work of culinary assistants and coordinate kitchen operations while ensuring proper portioning, sanitation, and safety protocols are followed. Manage food handling to prevent contamination and reduce costs, responding promptly to resident and family requests. Maintain a safe, secure, and dignified atmosphere in the kitchen and dining areas. Adhere to all departmental policies, including HIPAA regulations and emergency procedures, while wearing appropriate dress.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- one to two years related experience and/or training
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear
- Ability to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and taste or smell
- Ability to occasionally sit, and climb or balance
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to occasionally be exposed to blood borne pathogens
