Job Summary
Prepare various foods depending on the menu created by dieticians for each meal, operating kitchen equipment such as mixers, slicers, and steamers. Create meals appropriate for the elderly in large quantities while adhering to standardized recipes and specialized diet orders including NPO and therapeutic diets. Clean work surfaces, sweep floors, and store unused foods properly, ensuring all equipment is sanitized and chemical levels are checked. Monitor and serve meals with appropriate portion controls, process diet changes, and provide substitutes for those refusing food. Set up and service the tray line, returning trays to the kitchen as requested. Comply with infection control policies, safety regulations, and privacy programs while participating in nursing center surveys and mandatory in-services.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- One (1) year food service experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care center, or other related medical center
- Non-exempt Status: May be required to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary
- Subject to callback during any emergency
