Job Summary
Cook and plate food products in accordance with production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment. Organize daily activities by reviewing pull and prep lists, then cook and store items at required temperatures, labeling and rotating products per company standards. Prepare items from scratch using company recipes and test foods for proper cooking standards using tasting, smelling, measuring devices, or utensils. Monitor large volume equipment such as grills, deep fryers, ovens, and roasters for proper cooking temperatures. Maintain the food preparation area by cleaning all equipment and workstations immediately after use, and follow safe food handling and hygiene practices. Adhere to workplace safety standards for operating equipment and report any malfunctions to management. Perform opening and closing side works according to established checklists. Stand for 6-8 hour shifts, frequently reach with hands and arms, taste or smell food, and occasionally lift up to 50-pound cases. Work in various hot and cold temperatures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, or general education degree (GED)
- six months or more related experience and/or training
- equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of basic food preparation and cooking skills
- Must be able to properly identify and use various cooking utensils and equipment
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions
- Ability to effectively communicate information individually and in small group situations to customers and co workers
- Ability to understand the English language both written and verbal
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, and common fractions
- Ability to apply reasonable understanding in carrying out instructions in written, oral or diagram form
- Must be able to stand during 6-8hr shift
- Must be able to hear well amongst loud background noise
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50-pound cases several times per shift
- Must be able to work in various hot and cold temperatures
