Job Summary
Prepare food in large quantities according to federal, state, and local standards, including therapeutic diets and weekend meal prep. Manage inventory by preparing menus, ordering groceries, and restocking the kitchen while maintaining strict food safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols. Ensure daily operational compliance by completing the dietary book, washing dishes by specified times, and performing scheduled cleaning duties in the kitchen and dining areas. Answer doors and phones promptly, assist in resident evacuations, and report hazardous conditions or accidents immediately to the Director of Food Services. Work Monday through Friday from 6 AM to 2:30 PM, with potential shift changes and emergency call-backs.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent/GED preferred
- Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the public
- Must be knowledgeable of dietary procedures (including therapeutic diets), as well as related laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to nursing home operation
- Must be able to meal prep and prepare meals for the weekends
- Must ensure the dietary book is completed and kept up to date daily
- Must ensure dishes are washed and put away in a timely manner after each meal
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of fifty (50) pounds
