Job Summary
Prepare and cook a variety of meals for residents with attention to quality and presentation; alter or adapt recipes to accommodate special dining needs; ensure attractive presentation of food; identify food and supplies for next week’s menus; participate in new menu and special menu planning; maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen/storage areas; ensure proper handling, labeling and storage of food for infection control; prepare meats for storage and portion control upon delivery; assist with dishwashing and kitchen sanitation; notify supervisor of supply needs and equipment issues; record temperatures in the TELS website; document Ready–to–Use foods; maintain confidentiality of resident and operational information; contribute to overall kitchen operations and safety; education and skills include 18+ age, 2+ years cooking experience, knowledge of food safety, ability to operate kitchen appliances, teamwork; preferred ServeSafe certification; willingness to learn and help others; enjoy working with older adults.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years cooking experience in senior living, healthcare, or restaurant setting
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Strong knowledge of food safety and dietary guidelines
- State food-handling and kitchen regulations
- Promote teamwork in providing services to residents
- Operate kitchen appliances as listed
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
- ServeSafe or equivalent certification is preferred
