Job Summary
Prepare and cook a variety of meals for residents with attention to quality and presentation, altering recipes to accommodate special dining needs. Identify food supplies for weekly menus, participate in menu planning, and maintain cleanliness of work and kitchen areas. Ensure proper food handling, labeling, and storage for infection control, while assisting with dishwashing and kitchen sanitation. Notify the manager of supply needs or equipment malfunctions and record ready-to-use food items and temperature data into the TELS website. Report on-the-job injuries before the end of the shift and maintain confidentiality of resident and operational information.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- 2+ years of cooking experience in senior living, healthcare, or restaurant setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety and dietary guidelines
- State food-handling and kitchen regulations
- Promote teamwork in providing services to residents
- Operation of kitchen appliances (dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, ice machine, blender, food processor, meat slicer, mixer, etc.)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- ServeSafe or equivalent certification is preferred
- Willingness to learn and help others
- Enjoyment in working with older adults
