Job Summary
Cut, trim, debone, grind, slice, and portion meat according to store standards and customer requests. Prepare beef, pork, poultry, and specialty cuts while weighing, wrapping, labeling, pricing, and displaying products accurately. Maintain attractive, organized displays and monitor quality to remove non-fresh items. Safely operate knives, grinders, slicers, saws, and other equipment while following all sanitation and food-safety procedures. Welcome customers, answer product questions, take special orders, and communicate in English and Spanish. Receive and inspect deliveries, rotate inventory, and assist in other store departments when assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Previous professional experience as a butcher, meat cutter, or in a similar food-industry position
- Strong knowledge of meat cuts, preparation methods, and product characteristics
- Proficient knife skills
- Experience safely operating meat grinders, slicers, saws, and related equipment
- Knowledge of food-safety, sanitation, and contamination-prevention practices
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and coworkers in English and Spanish
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
- Dependable, punctual, flexible, and customer-focused
- Willingness to learn new products, procedures, and preparation methods
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to regularly bend, stoop, reach, twist, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements
- Ability to safely handle sharp tools and operate meat-processing equipment
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy boxes, products, or equipment
- Ability to work in refrigerated, freezer, wet, and temperature-changing environments
- Ability to work around meat products, cleaning supplies, machinery, and slippery surfaces
- Ability to move throughout the store and assist in different departments when needed
- English and Spanish language requirement
