Job Summary
Prepare and serve daily breakfast, lunch, and snacks for children, staff, and guests while adhering to USDA nutritional standards and individualizing menus for food allergies. Maintain a sanitary kitchen, classrooms, and restrooms by cleaning equipment, utensils, and removing trash daily. Manage inventory of perishables and cleaning supplies, place vendor orders within budget, and maintain purchase documentation. Implement USDA, state, and local health regulations and act as a mandated reporter for child abuse and neglect. Collaborate with staff to integrate educational and nutritional components of the Head Start program.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to lift 55 pounds, many times a day
- Must be able to climb into the school bus
- Must be able to bend, kneel and squat frequently
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to stoop, squatting, running; and sitting in child sized chairs and/or on the floor
- Must have good verbal communication skills
- Must have visual ability to observe children
- Ability to fulfill responsibilities under pressure, including during emergencies
- Possess emotional maturity
- Willingness to cooperate with the standards of the program
- Respect for children and adults
- Flexibility
- Patience
- Good personal hygiene
- Physical and mental health which does not interfere with responsibilities
- Obtain initial medical exam and TB assessment within 30 days of employment
- Complete a medical exam and TB assessment every five years following initial employment
- Pass background screen
- Pass child abuse/neglect screen
- Pass drug screen
- Be subject to random drug testing
- Understand responsibility of being a mandated reporter for Child Abuse and Neglect
- Read and understand Child Abuse and Neglect Policy
