Job Summary
Prepare and cook orders for daily operations while controlling food usage to minimize waste and managing inventory. Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards in the kitchen, operate and report on kitchen equipment, and promote teamwork through communication with staff. Must have experience in a fast-paced kitchen, culinary knowledge, and strong communication and mathematical skills.
Required Qualifications
- At least one year experience of cooking on a fast paced kitchen line and food preparation experience
- Ability to demonstrate the basic knowledge of cooking, following recipes, portion control, and presentation
- Significant communication skills for interaction with staff
- Reading and writing abilities for meal preparation and scheduling
- Mathematical skills including basic math, percentages, quantities, and variances
- Ability to carry or lift items weighing up to 75 pounds
- Ability to stand and move about the kitchen safely and efficiently
- Capability to handle food, objects, products, and utensils
- Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel
Desired Qualifications
- Culinary certified training preferred
- Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency
