Job Summary

Prepares and cooks a variety of food for residents, families, and visitors according to established menus and standardized recipes. Oversees culinary assistants and coordinates work assignments to ensure proper portioning, serving, and food safety. Manages total kitchen operations, including daily sanitation, equipment cleaning, and hazard reporting, while maintaining a dignified atmosphere. Responds promptly to resident and family requests, communicates effectively in accessible languages, and adheres to all policy and emergency procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • one to two years related experience and/or training
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

  • Ability to work as a team player with other associates and management in accomplishing work assignments

  • Ability to demonstrate a positive and respectful attitude with residents, families, visitors, associates, and management
  • Ability to observe and report safety hazards immediately to supervisor
