Job Summary
Conduct building cleaning and food preparation duties in a trauma-informed cultural manner, adhering to safe food handling and sanitation regulations. Maintain clean cooking quarters, offices, showers, and common areas while sweeping, mopping, and disinfecting facilities. Serve residents respectfully, replenish cleaning supplies, and manage waste in external areas using appropriate safety equipment. Operate a motor vehicle to pick up goods and travel between Beendigen locations. Work flexible hours across multiple sites, including shift work, while maintaining a valid driver's license and passing a vulnerable sector police check.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of a high school diploma or GED
- Minium three (3) months Janitor/Cleaner work experience
- A combination of education, training and other related experience in the area of Safe Food Handling
- Must provide a successful Police Records Check (Vulnerable Sector)
- Must have a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's license, use of an automobile and appropriate insurance coverage
- Must sign Oath of Confidentiality
- Must have First Aid CPR & AED Level C Certification or agreeable to obtain
- Must be able to work shift work a variety of days/times throughout the week
- Must be willing to work flexible hours
- Must have use of a working cellular device and be able to download and use work required applications
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in an Indigenous organization
- Ability to speak Ojibway, Oji-Cree or Cree
- Knowledge of safe food handling practices
- Knowledge of Indigenous Food Preparation/Practices and Recipes
- Knowledge of a variety of cleaning supplies and cleaning equipment
- Excellent organizational, time management skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
