Job Summary
Prepare and plate a variety of foods following company-approved recipes while maintaining sanitary kitchen conditions. Assist with food preparation, comply with leadership instructions, and participate in cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen. Communicate effectively with residents, family members, and staff while demonstrating ethical conduct and a positive attitude. This role requires standing and walking most of the day, handling heavy lifting up to 50 pounds, and working odd hours including late evenings, early mornings, weekends, and holidays. A valid Oregon Food Handler's Card and 1–3 years of experience in a commercial kitchen are required.
Required Qualifications
- 1 – 3 years' experience as a cook or related job title
- Valid Oregon Food Handler's Card
- Knowledge of standard cooking techniques
- Knowledge of food safety practices
- Manual dexterity
- Good vision
- Good hearing
- Ability to read products labels
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Ability to lift 40-50 lbs
- Ability to lift 15-39 lbs
- Ability to carry 15-40 lbs
- Ability to push/pull carts weighing up to 150 lbs
- Ability to reach overhead
- Ability to bend and squat frequently
- Ability to twist, bend, and turn frequently
- Ability to work odd hours including late evenings, early mornings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to work on campus
- Ability to work in a well-lit and well-ventilated facility
- Ability to withstand heat, water, steam, and odors from food preparation
- Ability to withstand sudden temperature changes
- Ability to protect against burns from hot foods and equipment
